Getting back into a routine after 6 months of eating what I want, sleeping when I want (kids allowing) and the whole upheaval of lockdown have got my routine all in a bit of a whirl. For those of you that know me you will know I love routine and I hate being unorganised.
So as you can imagine the past 6 months have been hell on my routine OCD.
Today for the first time in ages I can see light at the end of the tunnel. The kids are back at school (jumping up and down doing a happy dance) not only does this mean I get my sanity back (no laughing I am a little bit sane) but also my precious routines can come back.
I have just got my laptop out and a blank excel spreadsheet at the ready (yes I’m a bit of a geek) and I have planned my whole week. I now know where I am needed to be and when I’m supposed to be there. I have scheduled in time for a run, which I took up during lockdown as I couldn’t get to the gym, family time because lockdown made me realise I actual missed my kids and even when to eat as I’m horrendous at eating if I’m in work and always end up eating bad food or not eating at all.
Timetables really help me when I’m getting back into a routine. Writing it down on paper and putting on my fridge so I can see it everyday to remind me what I have to do. Setting alarms on my phone so I don’t forget to pick the kids up from school, especially now with all the staggered start and finish times will make sure I don’t forget who I’m picking up and when. Also leaving myself reminders of things anywhere and everywhere (I’m sure I’m going senile lol) so I don’t forget anything.
What are you go to things to help you get back into a routine?
